Newcastle’s Best Bars – Summer Bank Holiday Edition

Newcastle’s city centre is a wonderful place to socialise and enjoy a few drinks. A mix of friendly locals, stunning Georgian architecture and trendy bars creates the perfect cocktail for a great night out!

It goes without saying that the city is one of the hottest spots for a good night out, with everything from lively clubs to beautiful cocktail bars. While a club environment may not be for everyone, there are also many other unique bars for you to enjoy a drink or two. Whether you’re looking for a place to go on a second date or to celebrate your birthday with a little extra flair, Newcastle truly is the place to be.

Here at Properties Unique, we have done the hard work of sampling drinks across the city centre, to compile a list of the best bars to visit whilst the sun shines. Keep reading to inform yourself on all the latest and greatest places.

The Trend Setter  – The Botanist

The Botanist  have successfully created the perfect recipe for success, with their stylish interior,  city centre location and fantastically large list of custom cocktails. Once you step through the doors you will be transported into a lush green landscape, with plants and flowers hanging in every corner. Head up to the rooftop terrace where sunlight shines a spotlight on the thoughtfully decorated outdoor space. A beautifully balanced mix of vibrant greenery and neutral furnishings allow for a luxurious yet relaxed vibe.

The bar, tiled in beautiful green stone, is located on the terrace; so, you don’t have to travel far for your drinks! Give yourself plenty of time to read through their cocktail menu though – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

The Botanist is a feast for the senses, with a light atmosphere and captivating menu. Their flavorful cocktails are matched in excellence with their food menu, make sure to sample their Protein Punch as their Turkish Eggs are sensational.

After you’ve tasted their delicious cocktail’s you will need somewhere to rest for the evening… why not stay in our Charles Grey Apartment located on Grey Street, which is only a 3 minute walk to The Botanist.

Date Night – Grey Owl

   If you manage to bag a table at the Grey Owl, you and your date will be seated with smug faces at one of Grey Street’s most desirable bars. Grey Street is known for its exquisite Georgian listed architecture and the Theatre Royal, which dates back to 1837.

Located opposite the Theatre, The Grey Owl’s terrace is the perfect location to watch the world go by and strike up a thrilling conversation with your partner. You will love its quirky decor and impressive cocktail menu but stay for the friendly vibes throughout the bar. Known for its opulent atmosphere, indulge yourself in their excellent selection of wines  to truly immerse yourself in the grandeur. 

Once you’ve enjoyed a few glasses of Pinot or Merlot, why not rest your head at our city centre Black Friars Apartment located near the historic Blackfriars, the restored 13th Century monastery. 

 

A Touch of Class – Roof Thirty Nine 

   If you love Relaxed European vibes, beautiful styling, and some of the best cocktails in town, then Roof Thirty Nine is the place to be. Find it by heading to the Food Hall in Fenwicks, the friendly staff will greet you and you’ll be whisked up to the terrace via a private lift. 

You might think you’ve travelled much farther than Newcastle if you arrive here as the sun is shining. The rooftop patio is the ideal place regardless of the weather thanks to the pull-out canopy, outdoor heaters, and lovely blankets that are given on every chair.

Wondering what drink to choose first? We recommend the Hepple Sundown Spritz, with Hepple Douglas Fir Vodka, Aperol, fresh Grapefruit juice, and soda water making it the ideal drink to enjoy as the sun sets.

The exterior space is elegantly adorned with a light, neutral colour scheme, giving it a luxurious appearance. Barluga’s environment draws fashionable customers, making it a fantastic place to check out the newest trends and take photos to post on your social media.
