Ouseburn

Just a short walk along the riverside known as the cradle of the industrial revolution, the recently transformed Ouseburn has become one of Newcastle’s popular places to visit. Artists, designers, printmakers, brewers, and restaurants and even a community run urban farm all resonate in the valley. Victorian Tunnel

The Victorian tunnel is a must visitor attraction, built in 1842 to transport coal from Leazes main colliery to riverside jetties. The tunnel runs beneath the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne from the Town Moor down to the River Tyne. Guided tours are available for a fascinating underground experience, wearing a helmet is a must. The entrance of the tunnel is in Ouseburn a short walk from the Riverside. Experience what it would be like during the wartime air raid and be sure to listen out for the oncoming coal wagons!
